I just spent Easter Sunday afternoon dodging a hail of hard, boiled, painted assasins from shattering upon my grey but still intact head. When did the Easter Sunday family tradition of rolling your decorated eggs turn into such a violent spectacle. On more than 1 occassion did I witness a young child be the unsuspecting victim of a plummeting hard-boiled missile – worst factor is that the missile thrower was an adult – a parent at that!
The place was strewn with kids, and I mean toddlers, barely 2 years old, and having to unknowingly dodge missiles that would seriously have put them in hospital.
I have no idea what possesed these grown men to catapault hard boiled eggs in the air in the known fact that there were young children scattered all around the vicinity where the egg was to land. I am disgusted that these adults, were parents themselves, and who would be outraged if a missile were to land on their own child. Sometimes, human behaviour, baffles me, as to why a responsible adult should put another child’s life in harms way in such a manner.
Once, Eastering Sunday, was such a simple day to involve kids of all ages in a bit of harmless fun. Nowadays, its a commoditity for confectionary companies to make a buck or where a few adults perform like unruly youngsters (high on a chocolate buzz) themselves, by hurling hard-boiled eggs hundreds of feet in the air and putting the safety of innocent children in danger by their adolescent actions. Sometimes, parents are the ones that need parenting.

Perhaps you should consider a more appropriate location for your pastoral pursuits next year – a gentle slope in a secluded part of the countryside may be more pertinent than downtown Palestine!
As for irresponsible parents – don’t get me started! Until a modicum of common sense becomes a prerequisite, the parents of the NEXT generation are already learning by example. Some human beings should not be allowed to reproduce. Harsh but true.
